Middlesex Mutual Insurance announce recipients of the 2009 Community Spirit Award
ON July 31, 2009 – Middlesex Mutual present this years “Community Spirit Award” to two very industrious non-profit organizations, North Lambton Lodge, Forest and The Optimist Club of North Dorchester. Each recipient will receive $2,500 towards their organizational advancement and continually developing programs.
The Optimist Club of North Dorchester will utilize the funding to assist with the Optimist Youth Band music program that currently has a sum of 30 youths who range from to 18 years of age, all from the Dorchester community either from NorthdaleCentralPublic School and St. David Separate School. The award winnings will be used for the growth of their program by funding a music instructor from the University of Western Ontario Music department. Funding will also cover the costs of repairs to instruments and assisting with purchasing of newer sound equipment. This talented band performs about 10 events a year for different organizations in and around the London and surrounding area. There are many great enriching opportunities that can be found within the musical arts, this funding will help the youths improve their creative expression, self-worth, commitment to goals and continue to develop good work ethics and partnerships among other band members. Judy Andrigo, Treasurer of the Optimist Club of North Dorchester says “ We are extremely excited about what this funding will help accomplish. We will be able to continue to repair, and possibly even purchase new equipment to use”. This award will enhance and re-ignite the spirits of the children to continue with their passion of music.
